Crooked Creek Owner 1 of 39 Appointed to National Beef Board

Pacific, MO, 1/5/17: Bill McLaren, owner of Crooked Creek Beef and local area business leader, was one of only 39 appointments made to the Cattlemen’s National Beef Promotion and Research Board by US Agriculture Secretary Vilsack. McLaren will serve a three-year term as one of 100 board members nationally.

McLaren is a fourth generation beef producer. His family has raised beef just west of St. Louis in Franklin County for more than 125 years. McLaren has had the opportunity to serve consumers and the beef industry in several roles to date including: Chairman of the Missouri Farm Bureau Beef Committee, member of the American Farm Bureau National Beef Committee, and as a member of the Missouri Cattlemen Association. He is also the co-owner of McLaren Grading, a large St. Louis grading company, and Haue Valley, a rustic wedding venue located in Pacific on one of his family’s century farms. McLaren and Haue Valley have hosted the  MO Beef Industry Council’s State Chef’s Tour for the last three years.

McLaren raises beef on two family farms in Franklin County totaling approximately 700 acres. The farm’s proximity to St. Louis and urban areas provides McLaren with a perspective different than that of many farmers.

On December 23, 2016 McLaren’s nomination by the Missouri Cattlemen Association was approved and his service will begin in 2017.

“It is a great honor to serve the Missouri cattle industry in this capacity,” said McLaren. “I look forward to working with other board members to advance the beef industry in the United States.”
